Multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora) is a common wild host of RRD and the disease has spread throughout much of the U.S. on multiflora and other wild roses. The disease has been found in cultivated roses in Oklahoma and in many other states including Missouri, Arkansas and Texas
RRD has devastated plantings in the Midwest and Eastern seaboard.
Major landscape firms have stopped using roses in some regions.
There’s no cure for RRD, and symptomatic roses should be destroyed

Remove and destroy the plant as quickly as possible

After several seasons, RRD will likely cause the plant to die entirely
RRD is transmitted by grafting or feeding of eriophyid mites
The mites hide in buds, open flowers, and at the base of shoots
RRD is caused by the rose rosette virus (RRV), which is spread by microscopic eriophyid mites
