Elohim is a Hebrew word from the Bible, often translated as “God.” It’s plural in form (meaning “gods”), but usually used singularly to refer to the one God of Israel, as in Genesis 1:1. There are two ancient cities called Thebes: one in Greece and one in Egypt.

Cadmus, the Founder of Thebes
Cadmus, a Phoenician prince, founded the city after following a cow to the site in Boeotia, as advised by the Oracle of Delphi.
He defeated a dragon, sowed its teeth to create the “Spartoi” (sown men), and with their help, built the city, naming the citadel Cadmeia in his honor.
Cadmus is credited with bringing the Phoenician alphabet to the Greek world.
King Laius and Queen Jocasta of Thebes received a prophecy that their son would kill his father and marry his mother.
To prevent this, they abandoned their son, Oedipus, but he was rescued and raised elsewhere, unaware of his true parentage.
Oedipus later unknowingly killed his father and eventually solved the riddle of the Sphinx, which had been terrorizing the city, to become king of Thebes and marry Jocasta.
Heracles was born in Thebes, the son of Zeus and a mortal woman.
Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy, was also born in Thebes, another child of Zeus
Polynices, exiled by his brother, enlisted Achaean help to retake the city, leading to a fierce battle where most of the invading champions were killed

Tiresias, the Prophet of Thebes
The blind prophet Tiresias served as an advisor to Cadmus and played a part in the mythology of Thebes for seven generations.
