If you’re restoring an old place and find a stash of these, they’re often worth keeping—they’re cool historical artifacts, and sometimes one will still open a forgotten lock in the same building!
The oldest homes that genuinely used skeleton keys were medieval castles and manors, but the ones where people most often find them hidden today are Victorian and late-19th-century houses like the 1892 Keyhole House.
